Amazon Printed Book Prices Will be Going UP By June 20, 2023!

I have bad news and good news.

Bad news first: on June 20, 2023, Amazon/Kindle Direct Publishing will raise substantially the printing costs of indie books published and sold through them. 😞

This applies to softcover and hardcover books alike. The prices for Psiarch: Rising HC/SC will therefore rise in the price range of US $25.50-27.75 (SC; 504 pages) and US $28.50-32.75 (HC; 546 pages). 😟

(The same will happen for the SC format sold over at B&N). 😐

In any event, prices for the Kindle/kdp and ebook formats of Psiarch: Rising will remain as they are, wherever they are sold and regardless of this June 20th date.

And now, the (somewhat) good news: despite Amazon giving me the option of allowing the prices to be raised in advance, I'm maintaining the original prices for the HC and SC formats of Psiarch:Rising for the time being!

This means the books will remain priced at US $20.75 (SC)/US $25.75 (HC) until the aforementioned date of June 20th (same for the SC sold at B&N).

So, until then and if you haven't already, go over to Amazon (or B&N) and grab a physical copy to save $$$!
😎👍

In between, keep on rockin', eh? 😉

My Very First Interview

So, I had a little interview (Q&A style) with AllAuthor and it's now online:

PHV latest interview by AllAuthor The first story PHV wrote was a short story for the students’ newspaper titled ‘Unknown’ in high school. After a successful career of more than 22 years as a professor/research scientist, he retired in July 2019 and made a remarkable debut in the writing world with his book, Psiarch: Rising. With the release of his first book, PHV has already made fans all over the world and is all set to impress readers with his upcoming releases in the sci-fi genre. Read full interview...

It has 15 questions and I did my best to keep my answers as short and as straight to the point as possible. I hope you'll enjoy!

(And if you haven't already, don't hesitate to grab a copy of Psiarch: Rising from any of the outlets listed here).

Of License Plates And Easter Eggs In Psiarch:Rising

I've been receiving emails and (twitter) DMs from readers of Psiarch: Rising (no reviews posted yet, but oh well...*).

While all of these (so far 😅) expressed their liking/appreciation/approval for the book, some of them asked me why I would "focus needlessly on some details" here and there - and the only example offered about in support of this mild criticism concerned the seeming 'gratuitous' mention of the license plate on the car belonging to a 'certain villainess' (and one of the main antagonists) in the last scene of the last chapter of the book (Chapter 30).

In context, the passage in question (emphasized) reads as such:

With another smug grin, the pint-sized woman turned to see the vigilant Jasper waiting next to her black bullet-proof sedan. As usual, the hulking man was dressed in the traditional onyx-hued chauffeur uniform, complete with gloves and classic driver hat. Standing alert like a sentinel with a semi-automatic combat rifle at the ready, he remained watchful of the surroundings through the headband-attached tactical visor he donned.

Strutting toward the vehicle, she smirked at the sight of its familiar—and personalized—‘7PW 7CH’ Massachusetts license plate.

“All’s clear, Mum,” the chauffeur said as he opened the rear passenger door.

7PW 7CH... Anyone remembers or knows about leet ('1ee7') speak? So, the license plate in fact means 'TPW TCH' or 'TP WTCH' - 'telepath witch'. 😉

And this is why I focused on this apparently innocuous little detail: it's a final clue to the identity of you-know-who (I don't want to spoil the name for anyone who hasn't read the yarn yet). Therefore, case closed. 😎👍

However, this brings me to mention another feature about Psiarch: Rising - it has numerous 'Easter eggs' in it, in reference/homage to scifi/fantasy books, series, movies (including a few authors and actors), or rock/metal songs/groups, or even anime. Some of these may be obscured ones, while others should be blatantly obvious (or so I like to think 😅). The large proportion of these Easter eggs are drawn from the general mainstream and/or geek culture, with a rare few being specific to Canadian culture stuff.

It's OK if you didn't catch on to any of these... yet. And although some of them constitute actual hints/clues to the true ID of characters, missing out on them in no way diminishes or affects the reading, let alone understanding, of the book. It's just stuff I threw in there for you readers, with the hope of giving you little knowing smiles whenever you'd find any of these.

So, now that you know, I hope you'll have fun hunting for them Easter eggs in this Book 1 of The Psiarch Chronicles!

And in case you haven't already, you can grab a copy of Psiarch: Rising from any of the outlets listed here.

Keep on rockin', eh? 😎👍
